Childhood well-being is a community issue.

 

Preventing child abuse and building strong, safe, and healthy children and families will benefit the entire community in the long term, setting up future generations to succeed. We also need the community’s help in providing every child with the childhood they deserve.

Collaborating and responding to our community's needs has long been a hallmark of EveryChild. We are proud of our strong partnerships and are honored to support the work of many others building a resilient and successful community for our children to thrive in.​

Each one of our programs work hand in hand with a volunteer advisory council. The purpose of each advisory council is to:

  • Provide cross-disciplinary expertise, technical assistance, resource sharing and guidance for strengthening and developing the programs; and,

  • Ensure high quality services and to advise the program manager on coordination of new programs as community needs emerge.

Advisory councils are made up of community professionals in a variety of areas. Focus areas for recruitment include experts in some of the following areas: substance abuse treatment, rape and sexual assault treatment, early education, schools, mental health, physical health, law enforcement, parent, community members, local government.

Another way to honor our commitment to community is through the All Our Kids (AOK) Network.

The Rock Island County All Our Kids Network ensures services for children zero to five are collaborative, comprehensive and reflect our community need. It provides leadership, structure, and support to prioritize partnerships and addressing barriers to ensure healthy starts for children in our community.

All Our Kids is a community-based collaboration that promotes healthy pregnancies and the positive growth and development of all children birth to five and their parents/caregivers by assuring a well-coordinated, easily accessible, equitable and just system of services and supports that engages parents as partners in making the system work for them. The goal of the network is to ensure that all children under five and their families have the opportunity to receive the services they need to thrive.

New to the Rock Island County All Our Kids Network is the role of Parent Ambassador! The Parent Ambassadors help to ensure for parent representation wihtin the AOK Network as part of the birth to five family community. These volunteers help advocate for the children and families in Rock Island County. While this is a volunteer position, there is a quarterly stipend available for Parent Ambassadors that meet program requirements (35 hours per quarter minimum).
