Let’s face it, though there are many resources for your baby’s mom to prepare for her role as a parent, there isn’t much out there to help you prepare for becoming a dad.
That’s where Basic Training for New Dads steps in. It’s a tried-and-tested workshop developed and taught by local, experienced dads to support and prepare you to meet the challenges of fatherhood.
No matter how many books you read or classes you take, nothing beats real-world experience. From diapering to sleepless nights to forming a successful parenting team, Basic Training for New Dads will teach you the tips and tricks of the trade—by experienced dads, for dads-to-be. We’ll help you build your confidence in caring for your child, and prepare you for the challenges of parenting. Ease your transition into fatherhood by learning dad-tested, dad-approved skills to help you become the best father you can be.

The Birth and Bonding Process: being prepared, your role, and starting your relationship off right
First Weeks at Home: the urge to provide, protect and be a caretaker, preparing for visitors
Family and Parenting Teams: team tactic, helping mom through the emotional roller coaster, troubleshooting using a checklist to soothe a crying baby, when to call the doctor
Feeding: what can be done to support breastfeeding; methods for introducing and using a bottle
Diapering/Baby Hand-off: male and female hygiene, supporting the baby’s neck, passing and receiving the baby
Safety: car seat basics, baby-proofing the home, preventing Shaken Baby Syndrome
