For Every Child (FEC) assists families in successful, positive adoption experiences and is sensitive to the individual needs of families.
FEC staff have had many years of experience counseling and assisting adoptive families in their adjustment as new families. Staff can assist adoptive families in meeting their placement program's required post placements and direct families to resources that will help them to parent their adopted children.

Home Study (Pre Adoption Evaluations)
A Home Study is an educational process, just as adoption is a lifelong process. A Home Study is a document written after a series of interviews with prospective adoptive parents, which describes and evaluates the adoptive parents, their preparation to adopt, and the home environment the child will enter. Some specific areas of evaluation include:
- Identification and definition of the stability and quality of interpersonal relationships
- Examination of resilience and coping skills
- Evaluation of parenting skills and empathy
- Understanding of the myriad of issues families and children face related to adoption
Although this is a state requirement, at For Every Child (FEC), it is much more than just fulfilling a requirement. Of equal importance is educating adoptive parents about adoption issues, providing training and resources to questions.
International adoption requires a sense of adventure, a willingness to take risks, a desire to learn the special needs of children from other countries, and dedicated to that child's culture and heritage. Your caseworker will address these particular issues during the Homestudy process.
All prospective adoptive families must have an approved Home Study conducted by a licensed social worker on staff with a licensed child placement program. For Every Child has a staff of fully licensed caseworkers that conduct Home Studies, post-placement reports, and court evaluations, serving the entire state of Utah. Our current staff has over 100 years of combined adoption experience, with the majority having over 15 years individual experience in assessing prospective adoptive families. Our goal is to make the adoption process friendly and educational, providing encouragement and resources.
Home Study Fees
The cost of your Home Study may be determined by whether it is domestic or international. Because international adoptions typically require additional information and visits, many agencies set the cost more than a domestic Home Study.
Customary FEC Fees
$ 950.00 - Domestic Homestudy
$ 950.00 - International Homestudy
$ 125.00 - Post-Placement Report (except Taiwan)
$ 400.00 - Post-Placement Social Services (Taiwan)
* Taiwan requires 3 Post-Placement Reports thus requiring additional visits.
* Additional fees may apply for travel, lodging, meals, and additional reports as required.
If you live in Utah and are adopting through a For Every Child program, you may select FEC to complete your Home Study. If you choose to use a third-party agent to complete your homestudy, they must be licensed by the state of Utah.
If you live outside Utah, your Home Study must be conducted by an agency licensed as a child placement agency in your state of residency. You may wish to call several agencies to find someone with whom you feel comfortable. Home Studies can vary in cost by several hundred dollars, so it is also a good idea to compare cost. Ask what the completion time is for a Home Study. Contact other adoptive families in your area to get their agency recommendations. Your local Better Business Bureau and State Licensing Department can provide you with additional information on the agency/agencies you are considering. Remember that not every social worker or agency is a good fit for every family. Spend time to identify an agency and social worker that can meet your needs and be available to assist you each step of the way.
